Startup scripts are available for all platforms. They are
installed to the following directories depending on the platform:
/etc/init.d |
IRIX, Redhat Linux, and Solaris |
/sbin/init.d |
HP-UX and Tru64 UNIX |
/etc/rc.d/rc2.d |
AIX |
Startup scripts are installed to /etc/rc.d/rc2.d
on AIX rather than /etc/rc.d/init.d because
/etc/rc.d/init.d is only available on AIX 5.2 and above.
Depending on the platform, either symbolic links or hard links
are created in the rc#.d directories for the required run levels.
Startup scripts are not marked as configuration files. Therefore, if
they are modified, reinstalling the package or installing a newer
revision of the package will overwrite the script.
The name of the init script matches the package name without a
subpackage extension. Because
packages installing init scripts are usually fully versioned, init
scripts to start each version of the installed package will exist if
multiple versions of the package exist. Removing the "conf " subpackage will remove the init
script and all associated files in
"/etc/opt/TWWfsw/package " and
"/var/opt/TWWfsw/package ".
